Free GEX Tools: Free SpotGamma and MenthorQ Alternatives

Which dealer gamma (GEX) tools you can use for free, what the free part actually includes, and which “free” offers are really paid trials or first-month discounts. Not a ranking, and not financial advice.

By Last checked

The short answer

You can see a basic gamma exposure chart for free. Barchart has a free Gamma Exposure page for each optionable ticker, and SpotGamma has a free SPX gamma exposure chart that updates daily. MenthorQ has a free account, but its gamma levels sit behind the paid plans. If you want a full GEX dashboard for free, the honest route is a free trial: Quant Data and Profit Builders both run 7-day free trials that include their GEX views.

GEXbot, OptionsDepth, SpotGamma’s paid dashboard and MenthorQ’s paid dashboard have no free trial. Every free, trial and price fact on this page was checked on the vendor’s own site on 2026-09-30. Prices change, so check again before you pay.

Free gamma exposure charts

Barchart: free Gamma Exposure page

Barchart’s Gamma Exposure page shows gamma exposure by strike for the ticker you pick, plus the gamma flip level and the call and put walls. Barchart says it calculates GEX on the four nearest expirations by default (two weeklies and two monthlies), per 1% move, using delayed data from the OPRA feed. When we opened the SPY and AAPL pages on 2026-09-30 they loaded without a login. Barchart’s membership page doesn’t list gamma exposure as a Premier-only tool. Whether every control on the page works without a free account is unverified. Source: Barchart SPY gamma exposure. More on the paid plans in the Barchart review.

SpotGamma: free SPX gamma exposure chart

SpotGamma’s free tools page includes an SPX gamma exposure chart. SpotGamma describes it as a standard net gamma curve built on basic assumptions, updated daily. It covers SPX, not single stocks. SpotGamma also offers its Opening Setup morning email free for one week with no credit card. We found no free trial of the paid dashboard: the checkout pages bill the first month at signup. Sources: SpotGamma SPX gamma exposure and Opening Setup. Plan prices are on the SpotGamma pricing page.

Free accounts

MenthorQ free account

MenthorQ’s subscriptions guide lists a Free membership: the daily newsletter, the free academy, limited Quin questions, a preview of the Trading Dashboard, the free Discord, and weekly live events. The dashboard itself, gamma levels and the trading models need Premium ($129 a month) or Pro ($349 a month). There is no free trial. There is a 7-day money-back guarantee and a cheaper first month ($39 Premium, $174.50 Pro). Full breakdown on the MenthorQ review.

Unusual Whales free account

Unusual Whales has a $0 account that shows the whole platform on a delay: options flow 2 trading days late, news 15 minutes late, and alerts 30 minutes late. Its GEX heatmap and SPX market maker exposure are listed on the paid cards ($50, $75 and $120 a month). The pricing page doesn’t say whether the free account shows the GEX heatmap, so treat that as unverified. See the Unusual Whales review.

Free trials that include GEX

A trial is not free forever, but it is the only no-cost way we found to try a full GEX dashboard.

  • Quant Data: 7-day free trial on the Standard plan, which lists dealer positioning (GEX, DEX, VEX and CHEX) and an options heat map. After the trial it’s $74.99 a month, or $62.50 a month billed yearly. Whether a card is needed to start is unverified.
  • Profit Builders: 7-day free trial on all plans, card required. The GEX Heatmap plan is $39 a month after the trial. Cancel before day 7 and you aren’t charged.

Paid only, no free trial

  • GEXbot: Classic $50, State $150, Orderflow $250 and Quant $350 a month. TRIAL50 takes 50% off the first month of Classic, State or Orderflow. It is a discount, not a free trial.
  • OptionsDepth: the pricing page we checked lists Pro Max at $249 a month and a TWI x OD Combo at $375 a month, with no free plan or trial.
  • Cheddar Flow: gamma exposure is a Pro feature ($99 a month), and Pro has no free trial. The 7-day free trial is for Standard, which doesn’t list gamma exposure.

What a free GEX chart won’t tell you

Every GEX number is a vendor’s estimate of how dealers are positioned, built on assumptions about who holds which options. Free charts usually run on delayed data and a simpler model than the paid versions. A gamma flip or a call wall is context for your own analysis, not a signal to buy or sell. We haven’t tested these tools hands-on; this page repeats what each vendor publishes.

FAQ

Is there a free SpotGamma alternative?
Yes, for a basic gamma exposure view. Barchart has a free Gamma Exposure page for each optionable ticker, with gamma by strike, a gamma flip level, and call and put walls, calculated on delayed data. The SPY and AAPL pages opened without logging in when we checked on 2026-09-30. SpotGamma itself also has a free SPX gamma exposure chart that updates daily. Neither is a replacement for a paid SpotGamma plan (Essential $99 a month, Pro $129, Alpha $299), which adds Key Levels, Equity Hub, the Founder’s Note and, on Alpha, HIRO.
Is MenthorQ free?
Partly. MenthorQ has a free account with the daily newsletter, the free academy, limited questions to its Quin assistant, a preview of the Trading Dashboard, the free Discord, and weekly live events. The full dashboard and gamma levels are paid: Premium is $129 a month and Pro is $349 a month (checked 2026-09-30).
Does MenthorQ have a free trial?
No. MenthorQ’s pricing page and checkout don’t offer a free trial on Premium or Pro. What it does offer is a 7-day money-back guarantee and a discounted first month ($39 for Premium, then $129 a month; $174.50 for Pro, then $349 a month). You pay up front and can ask for a refund within 7 days.
Does SpotGamma have a free trial?
Not one we could find for the paid dashboard. SpotGamma’s checkout pages bill the first month at signup ($99 Essential, $129 Pro, $299 Alpha). The free options are its free tools page (including the daily SPX gamma exposure chart) and a free week of the Opening Setup morning email, which needs no credit card.
Is GEXbot free?
No. GEXbot starts at $50 a month for Classic. The TRIAL50 code on its pricing page takes 50% off the first month of Classic, State or Orderflow. That is a discount, not a free trial.
