tastytrade alternatives

tastytrade is a U.S. brokerage / commissions trading platform — an account you can open, not a charting SaaS seat and not a ranking of who is cheapest. Alternatives below may be other brokers or charting-only products; each row is labeled so we do not pretend a charting SaaS replaces a brokerage account. Keep / Gain / Lose — not a ranking, not a “#1,” not paid placement, and not financial advice.

Keep tastytrade when…

Keep tastytrade when the job is a U.S. brokerage with published commissions — stocks & ETFs $0 open/close; stock/ETF options $1/contract open ($10 max per leg) / $0 to close; futures $1/$1; and no published platform subscription (“No subscriptions” on pricing). Capture from tastytrade.com/pricing + Commissions & Fees PDF. Live review; no affiliate URL on this directory.

Skip tastytrade if you need Canada / TFSA support (official Help marks Canada as NOT SUPPORTED), need a Canada-resident registered-account on-ramp (neighbor: Wealthsimple or Interactive Brokers Canada), refuse a broker account for ongoing free forever charts, or your primary job is unusual-options flow / payoff-diagram analysis software.

Alternatives (live reviews only)

thinkorswim and Interactive Brokers are other broker platforms. Wealthsimple is a Canada-first broker contrast (not a Canadian tastytrade on-ramp). TradingView and TrendSpider are charting SaaS. Finviz is screener-first. Job-fit labels matter — charting SaaS does not open a tastytrade account for you.

ThinkorswimSchwab brokerage platform suite — different U.S. broker seat

  • Gain: Charting and order entry inside a Charles Schwab brokerage relationship — desktop / web / mobile, paperMoney via a 30-day Guest Pass, and platform suite no charge for Schwab clients (trades use Schwab standard pricing).
  • Lose or watch out: Different primary firm than tastytrade. Canadian resident eligibility / Canadian-listed symbols unverified on the live review. Not tastytrade’s published $1 open / $0 close options commission framing, and not a claim that switching brokers improves results.
  • Verified price cue: Platform no charge for Schwab clients; listed equities online $0 and options $0.65/contract examples on the thinkorswim capture — confirm footnotes on Schwab. (Platform free · Schwab account · Guest Pass)

Interactive BrokersGlobal multi-asset broker — Pro/Lite commissions + Canada entity

  • Gain: Global electronic brokerage with published IBKR Pro Tiered / Fixed and IBKR Lite US stock schedules, TWS / Client Portal / IBKR Mobile as broker software surfaces, and Interactive Brokers Canada registered accounts (RRSP / TFSA / FHSA) with published CAD stock commissions.
  • Lose or watch out: More operational complexity (Pro vs Lite, multi-currency, platform choice) than tastytrade’s flat commissions + “No subscriptions” story. IBKR Lite US stocks are US Residents Only on that table. Not a claim that IBKR is cheaper for every options trade.
  • Verified price cue: US Lite USD 0.00 (US residents); Pro Fixed USD 0.005/share; Pro Tiered from USD 0.0035/share; US options Pro example USD 0.65/contract; Canada CAD Fixed CAD 0.01/share — from IBKR capture. (Lite $0 US stocks · Pro from $0.0035 · CA CAD commissions · TWS / Portal / Mobile)

WealthsimpleCanada-first brokerage contrast — not a U.S. tastytrade swap

  • Gain: Canada-resident brokerage with TFSA / RRSP / FHSA (and other registered) accounts plus self-directed Trade at $0 commissions on stocks & ETFs (CAD and US listed) and US$0 equity/ETF options on the live review capture.
  • Lose or watch out: Different job geography than tastytrade. tastytrade marks Canada / TFSA as not supported — do not treat Wealthsimple as a Canadian on-ramp into tastytrade. Not a U.S. options-focused commissions platform.
  • Verified price cue: Trade stocks & ETFs $0; equity & ETF options $0/contract (US$0 as captured); futures $1/contract; index options SPX/SPXW $1/contract — confirm on Wealthsimple. ($0 stocks/ETFs · Options US$0 · Invest 0.50% · Canada only)

TradingViewCharting SaaS — not a brokerage account

  • Gain: Free Basic charts and screener in the browser (or app) with Pine Script and a community library; paid Essential / Plus / Premium / Ultimate annual specials when you need more alerts, indicators on one chart, or server-side Pine.
  • Lose or watch out: Does not replace a tastytrade brokerage relationship, published commissions, or order entry. Execution is through a connected broker. Paid plans do not include live exchange data by default. Not a broker swap.
  • Verified price cue: Basic $0; Essential / Plus / Premium / Ultimate annual specials $12.95 / $29.95 / $59.95 / $199.95 per month billed annually as captured. (Free · $12.95/mo · $29.95/mo · $59.95/mo · $199.95/mo)

TrendSpiderAutomation-first charting SaaS — not a broker platform

  • Gain: Paid charting software built around automated analysis, scanners, strategy testing, and alerts — start on a 14-day paid trial into Standard / Premium / Enhanced / Advanced.
  • Lose or watch out: No tastytrade account, no brokerage order entry, no published commissions table. Standing plan dollars are confirm-on-site. Canadian listings unverified on the live review.
  • Verified price cue: 14-day paid trial into Standard / Premium / Enhanced / Advanced (trial fees $19 / $29 / $39 / $49 as on the charting compare) — confirm standing dollars on TrendSpider. (14-day trial · Standard · Premium · Enhanced · Advanced)

  • Gain: Free stock screener and heatmaps in the browser with delayed quotes; pay Elite for real-time quotes, advanced filters, push alerts, and export/API.
  • Lose or watch out: Less of tastytrade’s brokerage / commissions / options order-entry job. Canadian listings unverified; FAQ says no plans to expand into new markets. Not a brokerage account.
  • Verified price cue: Free $0; Elite $39.50/mo; Elite $299.50/yr. (Free · $39.50/mo · $299.50/yr)

Canada note

Official tastytrade Help (Supported Countries for International Accounts) marks Canada as NOT SUPPORTED — tastytrade does not currently accept Canadian accounts. TFSA / RRSP registered-account treatment is N/A because Canadian residents cannot open a supported account on that Help stance. Wealthsimple is the Canada-first brokerage contrast on this page. Interactive Brokers Canada lists TFSA / RRSP / FHSA. Thinkorswim leaves Canadian resident eligibility unverified. TrendSpider and Finviz leave Canadian-listed coverage unverified (Finviz FAQ: no plans to expand into new markets). TradingView names Canada markets / TSX-family symbols on official pages. Confirm before you open an account or pay.

FAQ

Is this a ranked list of tastytrade alternatives?

No. There is no “#1,” no star rating, and no paid placement order. Keep / Gain / Lose is a job-fit map against our live reviews.

Can TradingView replace tastytrade?

For charts and screeners as SaaS, TradingView can be a neighbor. It does not replace a tastytrade brokerage account, published commissions, or order entry. Label the job-fit before you switch.

Is this financial advice?

No. This site is a directory of software and brokerage platforms. Commissions and platforms are research views, not a signal to trade or switch brokers.
